8 Bible Verses for the Anxious Heart

Recently my heart has been so overwhelmed and anxious. Like the crippling kind of anxiety that has me doubting everything. Am I majoring in the right thing? Am I even smart enough to finish college? Do my friends even want to be around me? Am I worthy of love?

I second guess my actions. I tell myself I probably did something wrong. People are probably mad at me. My head is literally constantly spinning with anxious thoughts.

Where’s God in this anyway? Is he seeing this turmoil I am in? Does he even care? Does he even have a plan?

Where more is there to find truth than in the word of God itself? So here is just a few reminders that God is by our side in the hardest of times. He is holding our hearts. He desires to bring us peace and love.

Psalm 56:3 “When I am afraid I put my trust in you.”

Hebrews 13:5 “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you”

Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”

1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

Psalm 55:22 “Cast your cares on the Lord, he will sustain you.”

2 Thessalonians 3:16 “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way.”

Colossians 3:15 “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.”

John 14:27 “Peace I leave you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let you hearts be troubled.”

Friends, I hope these beautiful words of God spoke to your heart as much as they spoke to mine. Remember, he loves you. He cares for you. He is so much bigger than every worry of the world. Keep your eyes focused on him. Let him carry you through the hardest of times.

May the peace of Christ be with each of you.
